Yesterday we went out to dinner at McMenamin's in Queen Anne with Frank and Suzanne. Since they are a brew pub, we pondered whether or not the little guy would get in, however, luckily, they have an under 21 section. Christian doesn't have a fake ID yet so we settled in there. He sat happily in his car seat / stroller and didn't make a fuss at all. So far, just twice, he has been great in restaurants. We'll see if that keeps up.

The heat is subsiding a little so here he is relaxing in the late afternoon. My hand is in the shot as a reminder of how small he still is, but he seems to be gaining weight. He likes to keep his hands up near his face, like you see here. I don't know if he's remembering his womb experience of keeping the umbilical cord from wrapping him up or if he is going to be a boxer when he grows up.

Today was Christian's first experience dining out. Because it was so hot in our condo, we decided to go to Azteca for dinner where we knew there would be air-conditioning. His entree was mother's milk warmed in a glass of warm water. A couple of burps and a changed diaper later, we were back home for these pictures. He is wearing an outfit that my sister Julie bought for him. Believe it or not, this is a preemie outfit, and it still swallows him up.

He also got to meet Maeve and Alma Watson for the first time earlier today.

Today was a perfect day for baby's first outing. This is my wife pushing Christian in Seward Park. You can see Mt. Rainier in the background.

Laura and I are both experiencing pretty heavy sleep deprivation at this point. Our boy prefers to be awake at night and sleep all day. He slept, as they say, like a baby through this entire outing. But even extreme fatigue can't dull the joy that we feel as new parents.

My wife Laura and I welcomed Christian Lee Kincade to the world at 12:01 a.m. on June 19th, 2006! If I figure out how, you should see a photo of him here on the blog. As this is my first post, I am liable to be a little bit clunky until I get this all figured out.

Read on and enjoy!
