Christian and his friend Alma

Thank you for the new toys Jeff, Janice, Alma and Maeve!

What's for dinner?

Just me in a good mood.
Today we are taking Christian jogging in our fancy new jogging stroller. We'll try to get some pics of that weather permitting. It has been cold and rainy here lately. But don't worry grandparents, we have a weather shield for the stroller.
He is now eating 3 squares a day, us having added lunch to his daily routine. He will like one food one day and hate it the next. We thought he was loving squash, but just yesterday he took nary a bite. The one fool proof food seems to be yogurt. And the bottle, of course. And the breast.
He is not crawling yet but that is OK with us. Makes him easier to watch.

Hey dad, I've got a present for you!

Hm. OK. Still tastes the same.

Not now, dad!
Laura wants me to tell everyone that he is sleeping through the night now. It is quite nice not to be woken up every two or three hours. But who am I kidding? I rarely was the one to get up, it was always Laura. (Thanks babe). And just in time for Valentine's day. OK, one day late.
Christian is almost 8 months now and doesn't crawl yet but is showing signs that he wants to. He will be sitting up, see something he wants, and ever so slowly topple forward, almost in slow-mo. It's pretty funny to watch. He'll then stay on his belly until he gets upset and then starts crying. And if "babababababa" is a word, then that's his first word.
Laura will be leading a PEPS group pretty soon. That means I will be watching him one day a week. Can't really say "babysitting" if it's my own kid. I've watched him one evening so far and put him down to sleep, and did pretty well overall. He's always a little fussy right before bed so it could prove a challenge. And I will be training for the Seafair marathon soon, and Laura wants me to jog with Christian in a jogging stroller. I'm thinking it will be fun for him as he always likes to get out.
Thanks everyone for the comments. It lets me know that folks still check up on the site.

Not quite interested in girls yet

Aren't there any baby shows on?

Hey Christian, think fast!
The quick growth spurts are over and he is now progressing at a fairly normal rate. He is now over triple his birth weight, but I doubt he will be triple again in another 7 months. He is eating a mixture of baby food, formula, and breast milk. Although the official weaning won't take place for another few months he is getting more and more used to eating from a spoon. He has now eaten carrots, bananas, green beans, peaches, apples, corn, sweet potatoes, chicken, turkey, beef, peas, and of course rice cereal.
He is now taking swimming lessons at the Y. There's no real swimming, mainly just getting used to the water, but he seems to like most of it. They always want us to dunk him just once and he always hates that. But he loves chasing after the little floaty toys. You can throw a toy in front of him a few feet and he kicks into action to chase after it.
