The lights, the lights!

Our little stander.

Hey come check this out!

He's got the girls eating out of his hand.

A visit from Aunt Janice.

Hello Christian fans. It's been a few weeks but we are back. Christian is now standing and walking with some help but not totally on his own just yet. He has a little rolling toy that he stands up and pushes up and down the hallway. He will stop near Mom and grin up at her to make sure she's watching.

He also has a few words in his vocabulary, as well as a few made-up words that we haven't determined what they mean yet. He now says "cat", "duck", and "dat", (some mysterious word that means whatever he's pointing at, either telephone pole or car, I haven't figured it out yet.) Even more fun, he says "dog" whenever he sees one. I used to think this was just another mystery word until the other day at the park he pulled out his pacifier, pointed at a dog walking by, and said "dog." I made sure to chastise him for not knowing the breed.

My sister Janice made it out for a few hours. She had a stop in Kent and I drove down to pick her up. She hasn't seen him since he was around 5 months old or so.

Next update will be him walking, most likely.

Family picnic, Kincade style.

On the fourth of July we took advantage of the great weather here and went for a hike. We did the Rachel Lake hike just off exit 62 on I-5. We did not hike all the way up to Rachel Lake since it was about 3 miles up and then back. But we did have a really nice hike about a mile or so in. The creek was rushing down pretty heavily very early on and the water was crystal clear.

We stopped near the creek and had lunch. It was a bit rocky for him to be crawling around so we kept him in the backpack. He didn't seem to mind and gobbled up his crackers, turkey, cheese, and blueberries. We have to give him the blueberries last or that's all he'll eat.

We finally hit a fallen log that would've hard for me to climb over with the backpack so we turned around and went back. We could've kept going but he was getting tired and ready for a nap. We bought some hiking poles after this hike and plan on taking Christian on more hikes this summer.
