If you couldn't tell by the photos above, we went to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival today. Laura says there are more tulips in Skagit Valley than in Holland. We had lunch at the Kiwanis salmon barbecue. "Grilled salmon feed" probably would have been a better name. No menu, just a plate of grilled salmon, bread, and coleslaw. There was also a baked potato that we had to wait for because they ran out. Nothing quite hits the spot like a baked spud with no toppings. Oh, there was a pat of butter. I even got two pats of butter because I made the major faux pas of using my first one on the bread. What was I thinking? Save the butter for the potato! I'll remember that next time. And styrofoam cups of pink lemonade, decaf coffee (only, no real coffee) and ice cream. I'm making fun of it but it was much better than going to McDonald's or Denny's.
Christian is now sort of crawling, but not really in the traditional sense. He sort of finds his way around with a combination of rolling, army crawling, and falling. If you turn your head just for a minute you will see him in a different spot. He pulled up to standing just a couple days ago, which soon gave way to his first head bump on the coffee table. He cried a little and had a bump.
He is now also waving and saying "bye." The wave is actually a little closer to when you clap with one hand, and never at quite the right time, (last night it was after our company left.) And his "bye" is actually "bah" and we're probably using our imagination a little even at that. And if you say "bye" near him, he'll then do his version of the wave. So he's getting it. A little.
Happy Mom and kid

Help! They never clothe or feed me!

For those about to rock.....FIRE!
Spare change?
These pictures are from a couple weeks ago but I just had to post them.
Christian's new favorite meal is scrambled eggs and orange slices. I guess he ate one half an orange the other day. He kept mom and dad up all night last night with what we think are teething pains, but we're not sure. Since he's never quite acted this fussy before we are taking him to the doctor today but hopefully we are overreacting. I read somewhere that babies his age cry about an hour and a half a day. He has never cried that much, not even as a little baby.
No big news this week other than we got a new laptop computer that we are enjoying. It's amazing how much you can surf the internet when you don't really need to.

First Easter egg find.

Posing with parents and his new trophy.

I could get used to this Easter thing!

Comparing the spoils of their hunt.
If you couldn't tell by the photos above, we took Christian for his first (and second) Easter egg hunt today. The first half of today was really nice here in Seattle. It is now rainy as usual but we had a nice break in the weather for a little outdoor activity. At church they broke the hunt into three categories, 0-2, 2-5 and 5 and up. As you can see by the lawn in the top picture above, the eggs were pretty easy to find for the youngest group. He is not old enough to want to get as many eggs as possible, like some of the 2 year olds, so he was pretty happy to get just his one.
Later we went to Mike and Sarah's for brunch and engaged in a similar hunt with their baby, Claire, who is one. Again, Christian was perfectly happy with his one egg, (with cheerios inside so they rattled).
While he still can't crawl, he now goes from his belly to sitting up, which is quite a move for him. And he will get into a near football stance and rock back and forth, and a couple of times he has even moved backwards, which is not the way he wants to go, but I'm sure he'll figure it out soon.
